Maddie joined our family in July 2016 after already having quite a journey for such a young pup. She had been returned to the shelter twice before finding her forever home with us, and she had even completed a 12-week Prison Pups obedience training program (although she never learned a single command or if she did, she chooses to ignore it). When Maddie came through our door, she finally found the family that wasn’t going to give her back.

Sweet, mischievous, and full of personality, Maddie has never been interested in simply blending into the background. She is our resident ringleader — usually ready to turn an ordinary moment into complete Dog House mayhem.

One of Maddie’s favorite activities is running the fence with the neighbor dogs like they’re racehorses. And when they have the nerve to go back inside before she’s finished playing, Maddie has been known to stand on her hind legs and howl her objections. Apparently, playtime ends when Maddie says it ends. 😂

She’s also perfectly happy to steal a soccer ball if it means someone — especially Lucy — would chase her for it. For Maddie, half the fun has always been figuring out how to get everybody else involved in whatever adventure she has planned.

Maddie has been called Maddie Mae, Mae-Mae, Maddie Mayhem, and — when circumstances require the use of her full government name — Ms. Madelyn Mae. ❤️

She may be our wild child, but underneath all that mischief is an incredibly sweet girl who finally found exactly what every rescue deserves: a family that chose her for good.

And The Dog House simply wouldn’t be The Dog House without a little Maddie Mayhem. ❤️
